By Hook or By Crook (THE TIME-DRIFT SERIES Book 2)

About

Ripped from her family and dumped in the Jazz Age of New York City, Joy is pissed. Yearning to see her daughter's smile and hear Daniel's voice again, she refuses to do the Universe's bidding. But divinely gifted, Joy can't ignore her calling...

Nor the women vanishing off Harlem's streets.

Known to his enemies as Black Horse, Daniel is a real-life hero, a successful cattle-rancher, and yet…

He would gladly let the world burn if the other half of his soul is not in it.

Armed with ancestral magic and his Remingtons, the gunslinger taps into the unspoken, discovering a chilling truth. Sometimes destiny demands more than we are willing to give.

Praise for this book

I am convinced this author is a time traveler because the accuracy is beautiful. The way she blends time travel, history, the accuracy of the crimes and the era, along with critical scenes like the speakeasies and basement clubs built into brownstones, was incredible. It gave us such a vivid look at Harlem through the eyes of those living in 1924.

The story touched on some of the harsh realities of being Black in America at the time, while also showing the path we were creating for ourselves in the process. As Joy is transported again, she is forced to make decisions that ultimately help her on her quest to save these missing women. Along the way, she discovers more about her calling and the difference between having a choice in how you manifest that calling.

This was beautifully written and allowed me to completely immerse myself in the experience from the first page to the last. The historical details, the setting, the crimes, and the time-travel element all came together in a way that made the story feel incredibly real.

And as always, I need a man to love me the way Daniel loves Joy. 😭 This man literally means he will go to HELL and back for you. The devotion and loyalty?! Yeah… I need that kind of love in my life.

What a read!!
